Gayle Volk The USDA National Laboratory for Genetic Resources Preservation (NLGRP) in Fort Collins, Colorado secures collections of our nation’s important agricultural resources. Many of the fruit and nut crops at NLGRP must be preserved as non-seed tissues in order to capture the exact genetic composition of the variety. This video covers one such process used to cryopreserve the genetic material of apple trees during winter dormancy.
