Foxtail Millet – Reintroduction to Taiwan

Hsin Yi Tseng, Yen Yu Lin, and Qing Xiong Ba Changing agricultural practices resulted in the gradual loss of foxtail millet landraces and cultivation practices that were once essential for many of Taiwan’s Indigenous communities. This chapter describes how many of these diverse landraces were conserved in the USDA National Plant Germplasm System, then reintroduced to Taiwan where efforts are underway to revitalize traditional growing and harvesting practices.
