Gayle M. Volk, Ashley N. Shepherd, Katheryn Y. Chen The purpose of this chapter is to provide an overview of the processes the National Plant Germplasm System has adopted to collect and prepare pollen for long-term preservation, as well as to evaluate pollen viability after recovery from cryogenic storage. This training is designed for scientists and technical staff with horticultural, cryopreservation, or plant tissue culture experience.
