Ricardo Goenaga The Tropical Agriculture Research Station (TARS) is responsible for the conservation and research of tropical and subtropical germplasm. TARS, based in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, is part of the USDA National Plant Germplasm System. This genebank is responsible for maintaining national collections of clonal (vegetatively propagated) crops including cacao, bananas, and many other fruit crops. Their research programs extend to staples such as sorghum and beans. Join Dr. Ricardo Goenaga for a brief overview of this important station.
